Multiple arrests have been made in relation to Matthew Perry's terrible death. U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada filed charges against two physicians, Perry's live-in aide and the "Ketamine Queen," who reportedly provided the ketamine that caused his death.
π±πThe criminal inquiry began when the Los Angeles County medical examiner's office decided Perry died from "acute effects of ketamine." Perry, famous for his role in Friends, was discovered dead in his pool on October 28, 2023. ππ
Estrada said that the inquiry identified a massive underground criminal network that supplied huge amounts of ketamine to Perry and others. The network comprised his assistant, many intermediates, two medical physicians, and a big drug supplier known as the "Ketamine Queen." π·π"We charged five individuals in this instance.
These people took advantage of Mr. Perry's drug troubles to profit themselves while being well aware of the risks," Estrada said. "In the end, they were more concerned with profiteering off Mr. Perry, who is more concerned with his well-being." πΈπ
The investigation into Perry's death has involved several organizations, including the LAPD, DEA, US Postal Service, and the US Attorney's Office. π΅οΈββοΈπ
According to authorities, Perry, who had been open about his drug problems, relapsed before dying. According to DEA Administrator Anne Milgram, Perry became addicted to "intravenous ketamine" while seeking treatment for anxiety and despair.
After his doctors refused to increase the dosage, he turned to street sellers. ππ"As Matthew Perry's ketamine addiction grew, he sought it out more frequently, faster, and cheaper, leading him to the drugs that ultimately caused his death," Milgram once told me.
The five people charged are held liable for Perry's death.
Three of the five defendants have already pleaded guilty or agreed to do so. Among them:
Sangha is facing serious allegations, including conspiracy, drug distribution, and keeping drug-related premises, which may lead to a life sentence. Plasencia is also facing substantial allegations, including altering investigation-related records. πβοΈ
The inquiry indicated that Plasencia and Chavez discussed supplying ketamine to Perry, with Plasencia showing a desire to benefit from Perry's addiction. After Perry's death, Sangha sought to hide her actions by directing Fleming to erase their texts. She had previously sold ketamine to Cody McLaury, who overdosed in 2019. π΅οΈββοΈπ±
Ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic with hallucinogenic effects, is utilized in both medical and recreational settings. Perry was having ketamine therapy for mental health difficulties, but his deadly dose exceeded therapeutic limits. ππ
Perry's death was declared an accident, with coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine also contributing. Despite his lengthy struggle with addiction, Perry's death is a devastating loss for admirers worldwide. ππ
